OPERA NA ARENA DI VERONA

"Opera is when a tenor and a soprano want to make love, but are prevented from doing so by a baritone."

George Bernard Shaw

HELLO THERE!

Arena di Verona is a Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy built in the first century.

The building itself was built in AD. 3 on a site which was beyond the city walls. The shows were so famous that spectators came from many other places, often far away, to witness them.

In ancient times the amphitheatre could host more than 30,000 spectators.

It has been a cultural hotspot for over 2,000 years.

Watching an over the top prodution of a famous opera on a moonlit night while sitting on a marble tier that was once ocuppied by gladiators fans isn't something easy to forget.
