Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Quang Nihn Province, Vietnam.

Halong Bay is located in the Golf of Tonkin. It is known for its thousands of towering limestones islands topped by rainforests and its beautiful emerald waters. Halong bay translates as "The place where the dragon descends into the sea" according to the legend of a mountain dragon that plunged into the sea.

Halong Bay has experienced at least 500 million years in various geological states originally having being formed by karst erosion.
