The Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia  is blessed with breathtaking beauty. It is the world's biggest single structure made by living organisms (coral polyps) and even visible from outer space, composed of over 2900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2300 Kms over an area of 344 km2. A large part of the reef is protected by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park  to limit the impact of human use as it supports a diversity of life, including vulnerable or endangered species like dugong (sea cow), the large green turtle and others, some of which are endemic to the reef system.

The Great Barrier Reef is a Natural Wonder and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lizard Island is truly secluded from the rest of the world. With 24 powdery white sandy beaches and a blue turquoise lagoon, it is acessible only by private charter from Cairns Airport.
