HELLO THERE!
Eilean Donan Castle is located in a small tidal island where three lochs meet: Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the western Highlands of Scotland.
The castle was founded in the thirteenth century and became a stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie of Kintail and their allies Clan Macrae. In the early eighteenth century the Mackenzies' involvement in the Jacobite rebellions led in 1719 to the castle's destruction. In the twentieth century reconstruction of the ruins produced the present building.
Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most recognised castles in Scotland and has been used as a filming location for many films, perhaps the most famous being "Highlander", but it also appears in "007 - The world is not enough" and "Elizabeth The Golden Age".
