The Damara is a small ethnic group living in the northwest regions of Namibia.

The Damara are one of the oldest nations in Namibia and their origins are unrecorded.

This is largely due to their loose social structure, dispersed far and wide, divided in several tribes, each with its own chief, which made them unable to defend themselves against the more unified tribes.

The living Museum of Damara close to Twelfontein is the only Damara project in Namibia, attempting to reconstruct the "lost culture" of the Damara people.
