ANTELOPE SLOT CANYON

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer."

HELLO THERE!

Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon located on Navajo land, east of Page, Arizona, United States.

The Canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes to the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic "flowing shapes in the rock". Antelope Canyon has two main segments Upper Antelope Canyon is called "Tse bighanilini" which means "the place where water runs though rocks" and Lower Antelope Canyon called "Hazdistazi" or "spiral arch rocks". Antelope Slot Canyon belongs to the Navajo Nation.
